CASA Kicks off Domestic Violence Month

Please join us for our regular membership meeting on October 1st as we direct our attention to Domestic Violence Month while welcoming the interim director of CASA, Shandra Riffey. CASA (Community Action Stops Violence) exists to help those in need by offering a safe place for all genders and families in southern Pinellas County.

Providing services such as safety, crisis intervention, advocacy, training, and prevention, the ultimate goal is to eliminate domestic violence forever by brining hope, independence, and peace to families.

Her program this month will focusing on CASA as much more than a shelter, and will include the history of the organization, the multitude of services they provide, and will highlight how you can help in a variety of ways.

Shandra previously served as Executive Director of Lee Conlee House, a domestic violence shelter in Putnam County, Florida from 2001-7 and Executive Director of Micah’s Place, a domestic violence center in Nassau County, Florida from 2007 – 2014. Ms. Riffey has served on the Executive Committee of the Florida Coalition against Domestic Violence (FCADV) Board of Directors since 2007 and served as Chairperson from 2009 -2011. She has also served as FCADV’s Legislative Committee Chair and Standards’ Committee Co-chair.
