SueZie and Cheryl Hawkes met in 1997 and fell in love. For the love of Cheryl, SueZie gave up all she had and knew in England to be with her in the USA. They married in 2000 as husband and wife. SueZie spent the following years still struggling with her gender identity and Cheryl was her only confide. For many years the couple were in fear that a transition would most likely cost them employment and more.
By early 2014 SueZie and Cheryl couldn’t continue living in the public’s perception of husband and wife. They chose to pursue transitioning and leading a positive life. Those first steps, humiliation and psychological pain, were something both of them felt no one should have to endure. SueZie and Cheryl decided to educate the world by going public and bringing awareness to transgender. The couple went about it in a grand scale! They let reporters document and film some of the transition including the operating room. The story of SueZie’s boldness together with Cheryl’s unwavering passion and love captured the media’s attention around the world.
SueZie and Cheryl advocate in a positive lens and speak to the ground level of social acceptance. They totally opened the book of their life with a goal to normalize love and acceptance, and reducing stigma in transgender relationships and beyond. Since 2015 they have written extensively for workplace and public LGBT publications. SueZie transitioned in a corporate environment. It wasn’t easy and being the first, clearly identified the need for education. Guided by her candid principles SueZie pursued positive cultural change in her workplace.
SueZie is now self-employed building her own business. Her flexible schedules allows her to give voluntary assistance to transitioning individuals and families; it’s a priority close to her heart. SueZie and Cheryl have a healthy passion between them. The couple give love and Intimacy education. SueZie proudly states, “I work in a ladies only profession and we are Relationship Enhancement Specialists.” SueZie and Cheryl are both Pure Romance Consultants.
