The Suncoast Center Shines A Light on Mental Health

Join us when we welcome Beth Menchen of the Suncoast Center, Inc. to speak about mental illness issues in our community and the impact from COVID-19. She will focus on the impact with working women, with issues ranging from working from home, to being caregivers, and teaching distance learning. We’ll also discuss issues with suicide in our community, as well. She will also provide resources, what to pay attention to for mental illnesses, self-care, and how to help someone that is being impacted.

Beth Menchen is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Senior Clinical Manager at Suncoast Center, Inc.  She has been working in the field of mental health for 15 years with clients and programs across the spectrum of behavioral health services, including children and families, substance abuse treatment, intensive adult services, trauma focused interventions, suicide prevention and response, sexual assault response services, and program development and management.

Beth is passionate about empowering others to reach their full potential and the role that relationships play in effective counseling as well as building networks to improve service delivery in Pinellas County.Beth is the chair of Suncoast Center’s Zero Suicide Committee, a group that formed over a year ago to assess and strengthen the agency’s ability to detect and prevent suicide, support staff in their challenging roles as helpers, and collaborate with community agencies to combat the high number of suicide deaths in the county.

If you are attending by zoom, please know that we understand the myriad of reasons why you are unable to attend the meeting in person. We’re delighted to be able to provide you access with this new technology to keep you connected with those who share the vital mission of equity in the workplace. Since the beginning of this pandemic, our ability to raise funds for our Connie Passmore Scholarship has suffered greatly without opportunities for fundraising events.
