Thursday, November 7, we had an inspiring presentation by Lola B. Morgan, a powerful advocate for mental health, racial equity, and wellness. In the wake of recent natural disasters and an intense election season, Lola provided invaluable mental health insights to help us chart a path forward. As the founder of A Griot’s Corner, LLC, she transforms lives through corporate and community workshops on mental wellness, offering tools for building healthier coping mechanisms. Lola is also the co-founder of The Modern Griot Corporation, a 501(c)(3) organization committed to trauma-informed services and community well-being. Her 2019 book The Butterfly & The Bully supports children in developing positive coping strategies through reinforcement.
Lola’s expertise as a nationally certified Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Instructor and a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) in Florida enables her to break down mental health stigmas and empower communities with the self-advocacy tools needed for recovery. She addresses crucial topics such as accessible mental health resources, wellness roadmaps, social and emotional intelligence, radical self-care, and workplace empathy, alongside Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Lola’s holistic approach to mind management and achieving balance and purpose is sure to leave a lasting impact.
