22 Jul Level Ump – Increasing Diversity in Professional Baseball Officiating
Our luncheon meeting on Thursday, July 10, we were proud to welcome Greta Langhenry, Co-Founder and President of Level Ump, as our guest speaker. Greta is a trailblazing umpire and advocate for increasing diversity in professional baseball officiating. With a mission to open doors for women and underrepresented groups in the world of umpiring, Level Ump is working to create opportunities, provide education and scholarships, and foster a supportive community. Greta’s inspiring journey — from being the first female umpire in two collegiate leagues to co-founding an organization dedicated to changing the face of baseball — is one you won’t want to miss. Come for the conversation, stay for the connections, and leave inspired.

At this time, there has never been a female umpire in Major League Baseball. MLB remains the only one of the 4 major professional sports leagues to have never hired a female official. Minor League Baseball currently has at least 9 women although this number fluctuates throughout the season.
