Barbara Daire to speak about Sexual Violence

Are you at risk of being a victim of sexual assault? Do you want to know how to help keep your children safe from sexual assault on college campuses? These and many other questions will be answered on March 19 as we welcome Barbara Daire, President and CEO of Suncoast Center, Inc. in advance of National Sexual Violence Awareness month in April.

Barbara received her Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Oklahoma and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

She began her career with Suncoast Center for Community Mental Health in July 1980 as a therapist in the Adult Outpatient Department.  Since joining Suncoast Center, Barbara has assumed various leadership roles within the organization and became the agency’s President/CEO in 1999.

During Barbara’s leadership tenure, the agency has grown to serving 30,000 children, adults, families and seniors in Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee and Hillsborough counties.  These clients receive services through over 20 different programs ranging from an accredited Child Advocacy Center and certified Rape Crisis Center … to individual and family therapy providing prevention and intensive home therapy … to medically directed mental health and substance abuse counseling … to community based prevention, education and outreach activities.  The agency currently employs approximately 275 employees with an operating budget in excess of $17 million.

While active on a number of local and national professional organizations, Barbara is a member of over 14 local community and civic organizations in the community; the current Chair of the Florida Council for Community Mental Health (FCCMH) state-wide association; and on the Executive Committee of Mental Health Corporations of America, Inc. (MHCA), which is a national organization of Mental Health and Substance Abuse CEOs.
