I have been following and have heard from two of our like-minded organizations, the League of Women Votes and Progress Florida, that the abortion ban bills (HB 5 and SB 146) continue their fast-track through the Florida Legislature. Below are some ways you can make a difference in this crucial battle for reproductive freedom.
Get on the bus on Wednesday, February 16: Planned Parenthood and Progress Florida have chartered buses from St. Petersburg to have a strong presence in Tallahassee this Wednesday for the House vote. There will be a protest before the vote and we want to fill the spectator gallery with reproductive rights supporters. If you have the ability to go, please do!
Get yourself to Tallahassee on Tuesday, February 22: A statewide mobilization to Tallahassee, long in the planning, will bring hundreds of Floridians to the State Capitol for a day of organizing, rallying, and meeting with Senators. Phone state legislators like there’s no tomorrow: Before Wednesday, let’s light up the call lines and voicemail boxes of House Reps with a chorus of protest. Find the phone number of your House Rep. here and make sure you go on record as opposing any abortion ban in Florida.
