25 Jun Martha Lenderman and the Friends of Drug Court
On Thursday, June 13 as we welcomed Martha Lenderman to BPW/St. Petersburg-Pinellas. Martha to talk about a project to raise funds to use in enhancing treatment plans for court participants in the Pinellas Adult and Veteran’s Drug Treatment Court. The programs help particpants avoid jail, overcome addiction, unite families, increase employment, and lead healthy lives. Contributions make it possible for the court to provide small, tangible incentives for participants who keep their promises and reach important milestones during the early stages of their recovery journey. These are “last resort” funds when no other funding is available.
Martha is also active locally, serving as the Chair of Empath//Suncoast Hospice Division made up of 7 hospice organizations around the state and also serves as a board member of 211 Tampa Bay Cares. She served as a member/chair of the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas appointed by the Governor and board member/chair of the Pasco-Pinellas Area Agency on Aging. She remains active as a member of Rotary, Suncoast Tiger Bay Club and other organizations.

Martha Lenderman retired after 30 years of service to the State and served at one time as the state’s Baker Act director. She has a master’s degree in social work. Martha has consulted statewide since 1996, primarily related to the Baker Act and Marchman Act. She served as a member of the 1999 Florida Supreme Court Commission on Fairness and six years as a member of the Florida Supreme Court Taskforce on Substance Abuse and Mental Health. She works with courts, hospitals, law enforcement agencies and professional associations throughout the state on the appropriate use of the Baker Act and serves as an expert witness in civil litigation.
